Getting to know Traci: Adventure time!
Q. What’s your favorite adventure trip or something adventurous you’ve done?
I went with a group of friends on a long day mission out to Deep Creek Hotsprings. I had been a few times before and convinced my friends to join me on what I advertised as a beautiful and easy hike (about 2 miles each way) along the PCT to these awesome hot springs. Turns out with all the rain and snow this season that the creek was at all time high water level and low temperature. This meant we would have to swim across a 36-degree fast-moving creek in order to reach the hot springs that I normally walk across a few rocks to get to. After watching a couple of brave souls enter the frosty water and swim successfully across, my friends and I took the plunge. We were so glad we did and it just made the hot springs even more awesome!
Gear that came in handy!
Mystery Ranch: Give N Go Backpack – Perfect for a short hike with ample room for water, layers, and lots of snacks!
Outdoor Research: Ascendant Jacket – As someone who runs cold, I pretty much live in my Ascendant Jacket. It’s perfect for any active adventure and I can pack into any backpack when I am not using it.
La Sportiva: Akyra Trail Runners – These are the perfect blend between a running shoe and lightweight hiker. I felt sturdy on any loose scree and made it confidently made it down a steep section of the trail without the bulk and weight of a full-on hiking boot.
PrAna: Halle Pants – Definitely one of my favorite adventure pants. The Zion Stretch fabric stands up to anything and is so weather resistant that I am pretty much prepared for anything!
