" I've been working with Dana Caraway for at least 6 years now in connection with several of her lines spanning casual apparel to technical outdoor product. Dana is wonderful to work with. She is warm, pleasant and personable , and works hard to find answers to questions that come up. She handles even thorny and annoying issues with grace and charm. In line showings Dana is great about presenting the product, yet also keeping in mind the realities of our business, and offers balanced suggestions about what might work. I appreciate that she seems to care about who we are, rather than merely pushing the newest product. It makes it easy to hear her suggestions and make reasoned decisions about our assortment. This is a relationship business, and Dana is great with maintaining those relationships. While I might not buy every line she represents, any line she works with will get a fair hearing from me."
Lynell Lacey
Director of Buying, Sports Basement

Dana’s approach and passion for Caraway & Co. were founded with her first job out of college. She was hired to teach first-grade experiential outdoor education in Boulder, Colorado. Working as an educator, she found her talent for identifying issues and creating solutions through curriculum transformed her students right in front of her eyes.

After being an in-house customer service manager, Dana moved on to be a Brand Manager at Stonewear Designs, supporting the design, production, and sales teams. Naturally, she later became a sales representative in the sales industry, translating her inherent ability to pinpoint issues and build solutions directly to the buyers and retail staff.

Dana later decided to chase her passion and founded Caraway & Co. She has built her team over the past twelve years into what it is today.

When Dana isn’t traveling or enjoying her time at home, she is biking, hiking, spending time with friends, and enjoying the outdoors as much as she can.

My beautiful mama gave birth to me in Norcal (Novato, CA) as a Navy brat, but I was raised for 27 years in colorful Colorado. Found an early passion/love in snowboarding and action sports at the age of 10 and competed up until the ripe retirement age of 17. Went to college in Steamboat Springs and turned a passion into an education/career by earning a degree in Ski and Snowboard business from Colorado Mountain College. Action and outdoor sports are what drive me. When it’s summertime, I stay by the water as often as possible. Love any water sports, boats, cliff jumping, or just camping by a babbling brook. My career and journey took me from Colorado to beautiful Washington in early 2019, where I have been anchored since.

Career-wise, I have roots in the retail space, where I started at BC Surf and Sport in Colorado and eventually found myself being offered my first marketing/tech rep job for the Rockies with Spy Optic. From then on, I have worked with countless brands such as Spy Optic, Zeal Optics, Zumiez, and Vail Resorts/Stevens Pass on the marketing/event/activation management side of things while also bolstering my experiences with some sales/retail-specific jobs with the likes of Traeger Grills, Low-Pressure Studio (PNW Snowboard Rep Agency), BC Surf and Sport, and Quiksilver/DC/Roxy.

Dad jokes, tattoos, snowboarding, and music are all my main hobbies in life, and I can’t wait to see y’all on the road!

Ryan O'Connell

Ryan’s passion for outdoor adventure started during his days growing up in Minnesota. When his ambition to climb and ski outgrew the hills of the midwest in 2001, he moved to Seattle to be closer to the Cascade Range.

His career in the outdoor industry began in 1997 as a sales associate at Active Endeavors (Iowa City, IA, and Madison, WI). He continued to work in outdoor retail until he got his first Sales Rep position in 2008. Since then, Ryan has represented over 30 outdoor lifestyle, footwear, ski, and accessory lines in the Pacific Northwest.

Ryan is currently living in West Seattle with his lovely wife and adventure buddy, Lilly. When he isn’t in the mountains, Ryan can be found in his other happy place…the kitchen, prepping a good meal with an IPA close by.

Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, my first exposure to the outdoors was exploring the limestone caves of South Central Kentucky, and from an early age, I was hooked. In high school, I became a serious Cross Country runner, winning a couple of state championships. After a series of injuries forced me to retire from competitive running in college, I soon found a new love, climbing at the Red River Gorge. Starting my sophomore year of college, I spent every weekend, probably a few too many class days, climbing the pocketed sandstone cliffs in Eastern Kentucky.

With a year left until I graduated, I confused my parents by dropping out of college to live in the boulders behind Camp 4 in Yosemite Valley, working seasonally at the Crane Flat gas station and whichever ski resort had good snow. I spent three years working seasonally until I settled in Mammoth Lakes, CA. I worked at Mammoth Mountaineering and skied and climbed in the Eastern Sierra every chance I could.

After three years of working seasonally and two years in Mammoth, I was ready to finish my degree, so I moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where I finished my bachelors in Economics and History while working at Babbitt’s Backcountry Outfitters. My passion for history remained, so I continued my studies and earned a master’s in History, focusing on the US-Mexico borderlands.

After my finishing master’s, I began working as a sales rep with brands in the Southwest. With the closure of climbing gyms and further uncertainty surrounding the beginning days of the covid-19 pandemic, I decided to look for in-house work and eventually landed at a climbing brand located in Salt Lake City, starting as a DSS Rep and finally a Key Account Sales Rep.

However, the Sierras have always called me home, and I have longed to be back among the Ponderosa Pines, swim in the alpine lakes, and climb the sierra granite. I am beyond excited to be joining the Caraway and Co crew.
